Green Valley Grocer
At the Green Valley Grocer, they are enjoying the amazing summer weather and arranging for their pioneers - in particular those who have pledged to lower their energy use- to have access to energy monitors to help them in this.
The plan is for monitors to be available for a week to each household - it is surprising how quickly you can learn which parts of your daily routine are using large amounts of electricity and to what extent this can be reduced.
A tool to enable your community to lend and borrow
Here at Greener Together we want to be able to share all the lovely tips that we come across from time to time.
Ecomodo is an online service that enables people to lend and borrow each other's everyday objects, skills and spaces with confidence. They can do this for free, for a fee or for charity. We facilitate the transaction to make good returns for all.
Ecomodo enriches a local community by creating a pooled resource that gives everyone the chance to live a richer life and opens up the possibilities to try new things without the associated financial and environmental impact.
It all starts at home
Around 42% of C02 emissions produced in the UK result directly from actions taken by individuals. As a result individual behaviour change is seen as an important tool for cutting emissions and meeting The Climate Change Act 2008. Though change is not brought about by information alone; it requires community support, infrastructure and overall a willingness to change. Greener Together in its essence is designed to see if co-operatives and its influential members are able to act as agents of change in their communities.
Pioneering the way
Abundant Earth pioneers will be the first to take the next step into greener living. Next week over 50 pioneers will be invited to start their six month pledge period. During the month of May, all participating organisations will be invited to kick start their actions for change too. Each organisation is encouraged to complete their collective action during co-operative fortnight; with £5000 up for grabs over the different sub-sectors for the most creative, co-operative and climate postive actions.
Keen to be Greener Together
The first wave of pioneer recruitment is under way.
